This is a small collection of moments I've captured at Virginia Beach over the years. A shoreline I've returned to with different eyes each time.
The first photo is from July 2014. Hurricane Arthur was still hovering over the Carolina's, and its reach extended farther than expected.
The waves that day towered above me, feral, unrelenting, and electric with storm energy. I waded in, thinking I could handle it. I couldn't. The ocean knocked me flat and sent me home with a bloody nose and a new respect for its power.
It was chaotic, wild, unforgettable and strangely... beautiful.
That day taught me that awe and danger travel together.
