Story Time...
After painting my bass a few years back, I was hyped on the whole process, fun as hell and honestly, I thought it turned out dope. Jude, my longtime friend and fellow smoke block philosopher, caught me talking about it at work and surprised me with this old acoustic guitar he'd been gifted and wanted to hand it over for full experimentation. Total creative freedom. Hell yes.
He brought it to me near the end of 2019. Then everything got weird, pandemic, lockdowns, remote work, school. Inspiration faded under survival mode and the guitar got tucked away in a closet, waiting for its moment.
Relics don't stay buried forever and that old guitar started calling. I finally had the time, energy, and focus to give it what it deserved. Not just a paint job, but an intention. Something that felt right for Jude. Something that carried weight, movement, story... something GROOVUS!
Once missing strings and bridge pins, the guitar was a blank vessel.
I started by masking the bridge, sound chamber, fretboard, and back - no sanding (regret)
then poured acrylic chaos across it: black, color-shift pigments, and fluorescent neon's that scream under black light.
After peeling the tape from the sound chamber, I painted it deep black and layered on Dragon Fly Glaze and translucent glow-in-the-dark paint.
Then came the seal, two coats of Rust-Oleum Satin Clear Enamel locking in the riot of color like a lacquered scream.
For the resurrection finale Miwayer Ebony Bridge Pins with abalone inlays that tie the whole fever dream together with
DR Hi-Def Neon White NWA-10 Acoustic Strings that glow like divine noise.
It pulses now with energy, style, and unmistakable groovus flair.
This isn't just a guitar anymore.
It's a visual riff, a friendship relic, and a glowing testament to trusting the process, even when it takes years to drop the beat.
